New Lexington, Ohio

Our Town is dedicated to the people of New Lexington.

New Lexington is the County Seat of Perry County and is located at the picturesque western end of the Appalachian plateau at the start of the Southern Ohio hills. The Village was established in 1817 by James Comley. The village is 60 miles from Columbus, 167 miles from Cleveland, 141 miles from Cincinnati and 160 miles from Pittsburgh, Pa.

According to the 2020 Decennial Census reported by the US Census Bureau, the population for New Lexington is 4,435. The government includes a Mayor & seven members of Council. Financial institutions in New Lexington include three banks, while community facilities are weekly & daily newspapers, the Perry County District Library, medical clinics, two dental clinics, one nursing home, and an emergency center less than ten miles away in Somerset, Ohio. 

Recreation includes a public bowling center, an outdoor swimming pool, and public parks that include basketball and tennis courts as well as a bike path for children and a disc golf course for all ages. New Lexington’s public school system is comprised of New Lexington Elementary, Junction City Elementary, New Lexington Middle School, and New Lexington High School. 

In recent years, New Lexington has embarked on a revitalization project, breathing new life into its historic Main Street. The streetscape is adorned with fresh brick sidewalks, charming benches, decorative streetlights, and lush greenery, creating a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors alike. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the scenic beauty of surrounding countryside, with opportunities for hiking, biking, and fishing in abundance.
